Jeff & Some Aliens (2017) TV review

Have you ever wanted to watch a show about a mid-20s stoner, going nowhere in life and generally referred to by everybody as a ‘loser’, living with aliens? Well, have I got the show for you.

Having trouble sleeping, I decided to find a new cartoon to watch (either being up to date with everything I currently love, or already finished something that’s ended). Rather than looking up things that I’ve heard about in some way or another, I decided to scroll through watchcartoononline and find something new – something that could be hit or miss. This is how I stumbled across Jeff & Some Aliens.

The 10 episode plot of this recent Comedy Central release follows Jeff, the world’s most average guy, who lives with three aliens who’ve come to assess how humans work. This idiot of a man finds himself constantly wanting better or to be better, but wants to put no effort in; here, the aliens always offer him advice (often involving technology from their home plant) which inevitably goes tits-up because Jeff is a lazy moron and the aliens don’t understand Earth culture.

This show isn’t much worth getting excited about – I’m not going to suggest you drop all your current shows and look it up right now; but it most certainly does have some enjoyable factors to it. While the comedy in this is isn’t high-end stuff that has you quoting it to your friends, it definitely has a similar humour to the hit show Rick and Morty (2013 – present), giving us enjoyable throw-away lines as well as some interesting plots.

In all honesty, I think this show could be a gem in the rough – given the right attention, I think this show could cultivate a decent (but moderate) following. Then again, maybe it doesn’t want to be that – maybe all it wants to be is an easy late night/stoner comedy that gets some laughs from the audience and is content with that.

As I said, this isn’t something worth rushing to watch, but I enjoyed it and I think some other people will to, so give it a shot if you have some spare time.
